Our Tampa School, The American Bartending School has been keeping quite busy in helping staff bars and restaurants in not only the local Tampa Bay area but in other great areas of Florida.

Assistant Director Tracy Zuluaga reports that the school's job placement database generally will have as many as 30 to 45 listings posted each week. Zuluaga says that they have students getting jobs, and as long as the grads listen to the school staff in how to go about getting a great bartending job, they will be successful.

Recent graduate Rachel Tygart knows this all very well. In a Facebook Recommendation for the school,
Rachel writes,

Tampa Bartending School Graduate Rachel"This school is more than what anyone thinks. The instructors are great and the classes are fun. And after successfully completing the course, the doors are always open and inviting for you to keep coming back and practicing whenever you need to. I would (and have) recommended going to this school to anyone even remotely interested in bartending now or in the future. And as for job placement, if you put in even just a little effort, it's not difficult in the slightest, with the schools help, to land a job. I had 2 interviews yesterday at 2 very established and popular clubs in Ybor City and with the things I learned from attending the school, I landed both jobs. Anyone can do this so go do it! What are you waiting for?"

Rachel is currently working at Club Prana, a very trendy posh nightclub that has become one of hottest two-story nightclubs in Tampa Bay.

She also is bartending at Club Underground a night club which features some of the biggest and hottest events that come to Tampa.

Tampa Bartending School Graduate JoshuaJoshua Poirier is also is a very happy graduate of the school as well. In a Facebook post for the school earlier this week Joshua writes,"Moving to the keys sunday! Got a bartending job at the cheeca lodge & resort!"

Zuluaga responded,

"We love Josh Poirier! His first job was at the Magnuson Hotel Marina Cove in St Pete - from there he starting working at the Black Palm in St Pete and he came by my office yesterday to tell me he landed a job on the fabulous Isla Morada in the Keys - not only will he be bartending but housing is included and he will be living on the stunning Cheeca Lodge & Resort Isla Morada"

Congratulations to both Rachel & Joshua as they continue making a great living behind bars!

Kentucky Bourbon Ale

Tampa Bartending Beer Blog

Recently I had an opportunity to taste a beer that I had never tried. Ive enjoyed a few different ale's in the past, but mostly I'm a lager fan. But I was pleasantly surprised when I had Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale!

This award winning sipping beer has the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon.  It is aged for up to 6 weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries.

It has a flavor of vanilla and is pleasantly smooth and robust. Even if your just a lager beer fan like me, go out and try Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Red Stripe Beer was 1st brewed in 1928 at Surrey Brewery located in Kingston, Jamaica. When first brewed it had a more ale like flavor and was very rich and flavorful.

In 1938, a lighter golden style lager version was introduced, and is the same version that is enjoyed worldwide today.

During World War II, American and Canadian soldiers who were in Jamaica were introduced to Red Stripe, and sales skyrocketed.

In 1956 the new Hunt's Bay Brewery was built and in 1962 they began exports to Grand Cayman and Eastern Caribbean.

In 1974 Red Stripe began exports to the USA.

Red stripe has a 9-month shelf-life and contains 4.7% alcohol

Jagermeister is a drinkable bitters liqueur that was developed in Germany in 1934. Its secret recipie still remains secret to this day.

It was launched to the German market in 1935.

The first case of Jagermeister was shipped to the United States in 1971.

Jagermeister is made from 56 herbs, fruits, woods, barks and roots from all over the world: for example cinnamon bark, cloves, ginger roots, saffron and coriander fruits... and of course, the secret herbs for the secret recipe developed by Curt Mast, the founder of Jagermeister.

Jagermeister is sold in over 60 countries all over the world.

Beer is a food product and does have a shelf life. Anheuser Busch Beers packaged in bottles and cans has a shelf life of 110 days from the born on date printed on each can and bottle of Anheuser Busch beers. Draft beer from Anheuser Busch is 50 days from the born on date.

Can & Bottled beer is pasturized. Draft Beer is not, so draft must be kept cold at all times.

Foam head is a good thing. Beer poured down the side of the glass eliminating the foam head will make the beer look flat and unappealing. It will make the beer taste gassy and will fill you up faster.

A half-barrel of beer holds 15.5 gallons and yields 154 servings. Drawing a beer down the side of the glass eliminating the foam head only will serve about 124 servings. That is a large loss in servings and profits as well.

Usually a response to that question is no, I want a big beer ! Little Beers are a alot different. I found out about these unique shooters when visiting a local pub here in the Midwest. They were served a very small beer mug that held about two ounces. The main ingredient is Licor 43, a liqueur that has been made in Spain for over 1800 years. Also known as Cuarenta Y Tres, (which translates into the number 43). Licor 43 has almost the same color as a lager beer, however has a sweet vanilla flavor. The Licor 43 is poured into the mini mug to three-quarters full. The bartender then gently tops it with whipped cream, to resemble the foam head of a beer. The flavor tastes just like vanilla ice cream! You can check it out at www.licor43.com
